TP Mazembe’s head coach, Lamine N'diaye, has shed light on the surprising decision to convert Nigerian goalkeeper Suleiman Shuaibu into a striker.
The move follows Mazembe’s recent challenges, including a FIFA-imposed transfer ban that left the club unable to sign replacements after Fily Traore’s departure.
Shuaibu, initially the second-choice goalkeeper for the former African champions, will now play as an outfield player, stepping up to support the team during this critical period. Coach N'diaye expressed confidence in Shuaibu’s adaptability, noting that "in training, he scores goals. It takes time to adapt, but he will be able to do good things."
Shuaibu’s transition became official during TP Mazembe’s match against Don Bosco, where he replaced John Bakata in the 65th minute, marking his debut as an outfield player.
