According to reports, the incoming manager of Paris Saint-Germain, Christophe Galtier, has devised a new strategy to pair forwards Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe with Neymar, who is now out of favor, in the upcoming campaign.
Despite having three years left on his current contract with the French Ligue 1 winners, Neymar has been linked to moves away from PSG.
According to a previous source, PSG is willing to sell the Brazilian international for a discounted price of €90 million.
However, Le Parisien (via Culture PSG) reports that 3-5-2 is Galtier's preferred system for the upcoming season. Galtier recently took over for Mauricio Pochettino at PSG.
Neymar is anticipated to be used by Galtier as "support to the offensive pair Mbappe-Messi next season," taking on the responsibility of originality in the final third.
The report added that a playmaker role for Neymar will also appease Brazil head coach Tite.
Tite recently declared that Neymar is at his best when he is at the center of any attacking unit.
“If a coach plays him on the wing, I will call him a donkey. It considerably restricts the creative capacity of a player with these qualities,” Tite said.
Meanwhile, speaking during his unveiling as the new PSG boss, Galtier said: “What coach wouldn’t like to have him [Neymar] in his squad? He is a world-class player. Yes, it takes balance, but I have a very clear idea of how I want to use him. I hope that he will stay with us.”
