Leonardo, a former sporting director at Paris Saint-Germain, has acknowledged that Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, and Lionel Messi did not receive the support and respect necessary to foster a winning environment while they were playing together in France.
The past two seasons at PSG saw the trio of star-studded attacking players win league titles, but the team was unable to advance to the Champions League final.
“People need to feel comfortable. These players need a state of good spirits; they need to feel supported; they need to be recognized.
“And the ones who have to do that are the club, us, and the coaches,” Leonardo told Brazilian publication Ge.
While Messi left the Ligue 1 champions this summer to sign with Inter Miami CF as a free agent, Mbappé is still under contract with PSG and is entering the final year of his deal. Neymar moved to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal in a €90 million transfer.
