According to The UK Telegraph, Thomas Tuchel's denial of consent for Manchester United to sign Cristiano Ronaldo signaled the beginning of his demise.
Todd Boehly, the owner of the Blues, was very interested in signing the 37-year-old this summer.
Due to the opportunity to play in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge, Ronaldo was ecstatic to leave United.
Tuchel, however, declined the opportunity to sign the five-time Ballon d'Or champion.
This provided an early difference of opinion, with Boehly reluctant to simply take ‘no’ for an answer.
On the other hand, Tuchel seemed exasperated at having to explain his reasons for not wanting Ronaldo.
The German was eventually fired on Wednesday morning, a day after a 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
