According to Victor Osimhen, being nominated for the Ballon d'Or is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
The Napoli hitman was one of the 30 players named on Wednesday by the Ballon d'Or's sponsors, France Football Magazine, as finalists for the 2023 men's award.
Osimhen made history as the first Nigerian to make the shortlist for the prestigious award.
The forward expressed happiness with his nomination.
“I must say it is a dream come true for me. It is a big honor for me and my family,” Osimhen told reporters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
“I have worked so hard for a moment like this, and I must say it is a reward for all the years of hard work and dedication. This can only spur me to do better and get more recognition.”
