A Mbao FC player, Ismail Mrisho Khalifan, collapsed and died in a U-20 League match against Mwadui FC on Sunday, the Tanzania Football Federation has confirmed.




19-year-old Mrisho collided with Mwadui defender with sixteen minutes to time and collapsed.

He was attended to but after his condition did not improve, he was rushed to a nearby hospital in the Kagera Region where he was certified dead.

We have received with deep sorrow the news about the death of the player and we send our condolences to the parents, family, teammates, classmates at Mwanza Seco and the General football family, the TFF said in a statement.
