Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has provided updates on Reece James, Enzo Fernandez, and Moises Caicedo ahead of his side’s Premier League tie with Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
Recall that James suffered a hamstring injury in training after the opening game of the season against Liverpool.
Fernandez and Caicedo recently returned to Chelsea after international duty in South America.
Speaking ahead of the Bournemouth clash, Pochettino was unable to put a firm timeline on James’ return but hopes to have the England international back before October’s international break.
“He is recovering well,” Pochettino said at his post-match press conference on Friday.
“I can’t say if he is close or not, but we assess him every day.
“He is starting to do things on the pitch with the ball. He is really well. He is really well. He is desperate to return and help the team. I hope he is close and hope he can be available before the next international break.”
On Fernandez and Caicedo, Pochettino added, “We saw them today, and he is in a good mood.
“He [Enzo] scored against Bolivia, I think he will be ready. Moises is a bit later than Enzo. So we will need to assess him but we hope [he’s ready].”
