Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser al-Khelaifi has expressed his confidence that Lionel Messi will stay at the club.
Messi’s deal with the Ligue 1 champions runs out next June.
The 35-year-old has already been heavily linked with a move to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.
However, there is a clause in Messi’s current contract with PSG that could see him trigger a one-year extension.
“If a player’s not happy, you will see their performance as not good for the national team. He performed fantastically this season for us; he’s scored a lot of goals and assisted a lot of goals for the national team and for the club.
“So what we agreed on together is that after the World Cup, [we] sit down together. But both sides are very happy, so we will talk after the World Cup,” Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports.
