In an exhilarating display of skill and determination, the Super Falcons of Nigeria have advanced to the final round of qualifiers for the women's football event at the 2024 Olympics.

The team secured their place by edging past Cameroon with a 1-0 aggregate victory in the third round of qualifiers for the quadrennial Games.

The initial clash at the Stade de la Réunification in Douala ended in a goalless draw on Friday. However, the Super Falcons showcased their resilience and prowess at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Monday, securing a crucial goal that made all the difference.

Esther Okoronkwo proved to be the hero of the match, netting a first-half goal that tilted the balance in Nigeria's favor. Her precise finish came after a remarkable slalom run into the box by Jennifer Echegini, setting up Okoronkwo perfectly for a tap-in from the near post.

Chiamaka Nnadozie played a pivotal role in securing the victory, making crucial saves as Cameroon pressed forward, attempting to level the game and turn the tide with an away goal.

Looking ahead, the Super Falcons are now set to face either Tanzania or South Africa in the final round of qualifiers. Only two teams from Africa will earn the coveted spots to represent the continent at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The anticipation grows as the Super Falcons aim to continue their impressive journey on the road to Olympic glory.
