The most gold medals ever won by Team Nigeria came at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom, where they took home a record 12 golds.



The previous records were set in 1994 in Victoria, Canada, in 2010, in 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland, and at 11 in New Delhi, India.

Ese Brume won the gold medal in the women's long jump competition on Sunday night, ensuring that Team Nigeria broke a previous record at the games.

Brume, 26, broke the previous record for the event at the Commonwealth Games by leaping 7.00m.

With her second jump of the day, the athlete from the Delta earlier broke the previous games record by 6.99 meters.

Oluwatobiloba Amusan's victory in the women's 100-meter hurdles gave Team Nigeria a triumphant finish to the competition.

The women's 4x100 team won the relay under the leadership of Amusan, who recently took home a gold medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America.

The men’s 4x100 relay team also won a bronze medal.
