Arsenal legend, Martin Keown, on Monday, lauded both William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes following their impressive performances for the Gunners against Manchester City on Sunday.
Keown said Saliba and Magalhaes ‘ate Erling Haaland’ during the encounter at Emirates.
Recall that a late goal from Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners a 1-0 win over Man City.
Saliba and Magalhaes expectedly started at the heart of Arsenal’s defense, keeping Haaland and his teammates at bay, as goalkeeper David Raya didn’t have any saves to make as Mikel Arteta’s side kept their sixth clean sheet across competitions this season.
Speaking on TalkSPORT (h/t TheBootRoom), Keown said: “I thought the Arsenal defence was superb. Saliba showed why he was missed so much at the end of last season.
“Gabriel as well. Let’s not forget him. I thought they ate Haaland yesterday. Honestly, physically they were really up for that challenge.”
