According to reports, Chelsea has increased its interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo.
According to The Times, Chelsea has been pursuing Brighton's Caicedo and Benfica's Fernández all throughout this month in an effort to sign a midfielder before the transfer window closes the following week.
Onana is a top contender for the Blues, despite Everton's reluctance to sell the Belgian international, as a result of their forced consideration of alternatives.
Chelsea wants to increase the options available to manager Graham Potter in the midfield during the current offseason.
This week saw the resumption of negotiations with Benfica regarding a deal for Fernandez, but the Portuguese club is adamant that their player will not leave until his £105.6 million release clause is satisfied.
Additionally, Chelsea and Brighton have been in contact regarding Caicedo this January, but a bid of about £50 million was turned down last week.
