Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has singled out youngster Cole Palmer for praise following his side’s UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla on Wednesday night.

Guardiola said that Palmer has character and played really well against Sevilla.

Palmer scored the equalizer for Manchester City as they drew 1-1 against Sevilla but won the match 5-4 via penalty shootout.

Speaking to reporters after Manchester City defeated Sevilla in the Super Cup final, Guardiola said: “He [Palmer] has a character. It is not easy to play against defenders like Marcos Acuna, for example, who is a top defender.

“It is not easy; it is a final. He is a young player playing in these stages.

“It is not easy for these guys. He played really, really well and scored a fantastic goal, too.”
