For the late football icon, Diego Maradona, he wanted Lionel Messi and Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Insign, who is set to leave Napoli in the summer and join Toronto FC in the MLS, said seeing Messi and Argentina play reminds him of the late Napoli legend, Maradona.

The 30-year-old forward also believes that Messi is the second-best player of all time, behind Maradona.

Naijacrawl reports that the 2022 FIFA World Cup will start on Monday, November 21, at the Al Thumama Stadium when Senegal takes on the Netherlands in Group A, followed by hosts Qatar against Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Argentina is in Group C for the 2022 World Cup and will face Mexico, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.

Speaking ahead of the 2022 Finalissima between Argentina and Italy on Wednesday night, Insigne was quoted as saying the following (via Teo Coquet on Twitter): “Argentina has Leo Messi, who for me is the best in history after Diego Maradona."

I wish them success in the World Cup. Seeing Argentina is synonymous with seeing Maradona.”
