American rapper Cardi B, born Belcalis Almánzar, has reached a $1.
2 million repayment agreement with media personality Tasha K following their high-profile defamation lawsuit.
According to Rolling Stone, a judge finalized the repayment terms on February 24, requiring Tasha K to pay $1.2 million in monthly installments over the next five years. This is part of the $4 million defamation judgment Cardi B won in 2022. While this deal covers a portion of the total amount, the rapper retains the right to pursue the remaining balance once the five-year period ends.
As part of the settlement, Tasha K has agreed to stop making defamatory, derogatory, or disparaging remarks about Cardi B or her family on any platform, including social media and her podcasts. However, the agreement does not restrict Cardi B from commenting on Tasha K.
For context, Cardi B sued Tasha K in 2019, accusing the YouTuber of spreading false claims that she had herpes, used cocaine, and worked as a prostitute. The court ruled in Cardi's favor, awarding her a $4 million defamation judgment.
This legal battle serves as a strong warning against spreading misinformation, especially on digital platforms. Stay tuned for updates on how this case unfolds.
