Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has set the record straight regarding rumors circulating that he was arrested during his East Africa tour on April 1, 2024.

Various media outlets reported on Monday that the musician had been arrested, but Davido took to his X handle on Tuesday to clarify the situation. He stated that contrary to these reports, he was not arrested and instead had a successful tour in Uganda and Kenya before returning to Nigeria.

Davido emphasized that he has never been arrested for any wrongdoing throughout his career and expressed his intention to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the false rumors.

In a statement, he condemned the irresponsible fabrication of such serious allegations, even in the context of April Fools' Day. Davido's lawyer is reportedly pursuing legal action against the media entities responsible for disseminating this misinformation.
