In response to the release of popular actress Empress Njamah's nude video, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has called for his arrest.
The actress has been in the news for a few weeks after she claimed that her ex, George Wade, was attempting to extort money from her by having videos of her in her underwear.
According to reports, George started a WhatsApp group on January 1, 2023, where he posted videos of the actress getting naked.
On social media, the nude videos are generating a great deal of outrage.
In a statement released on Thursday, the association expressed its condemnation for the leaked videos and urged security personnel to detain Wade, saying that violating someone's privacy is a "serious offense."
“This act of blackmail calculated to smear the image and publicly ridicule the Empress by a man who claimed to be her lover is not only criminal but also evil and unacceptable."
“It is worthy of note that leaking nude videos and images of a person that injure her right to privacy is a serious offense,” the Guild said.
While promising Empress its full support in ensuring she recovers from psychological and emotional trauma, the AGN said, ”We have been at the forefront of the campaign of violence against women, and we view the action of this so-called "evil lover" man as an act targeted at eroding her dignity and self-respect."
“We call on the law enforcement agents to apprehend the culprit and ensure he faces the full wrath of the law for violating the rights and dignity of Empress Njamah.”
