Afrobeat icon Seun Kuti has called on African governments to prohibit Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the UK Conservative Party, from visiting the continent.

Kuti's remarks follow Badenoch’s controversial statements about Nigeria, which have sparked widespread backlash.

According to DAILY POST, Badenoch recently doubled down on her previous comments about Nigeria, despite criticism from prominent figures, including Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima. She allegedly characterized her Nigerian upbringing as marred by insecurity, fear, and rampant corruption.

During an Instagram live session, Seun Kuti expressed outrage at Badenoch’s remarks, accusing her of disrespecting not only Nigerians but also their ancestors. He claimed Badenoch once suggested that Africans should compensate Europeans for the colonial era, despite the atrocities and exploitation inflicted during that period.

Kuti stated passionately:

"Many people praise this woman [Kemi Badenoch], but she has been insulting us and our ancestors. She believes we owe Europeans for colonialism—for the millions of lives lost and the countless atrocities committed on our lands."

He concluded with a bold plea:

"African governments should ban her from stepping foot in Africa. If she does, she should be arrested immediately."

This fiery response from Kuti has reignited conversations about colonial legacies, African dignity, and the role of African leaders in addressing perceived slights from influential global figures.
