Popular social media influencer and outspoken critic, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman, was remanded in police custody by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to Naijacrawl, Verydarkman faced arraignment by the Nigeria Police Force on five counts of cyberstalking. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, promptly applied for bail, but the prosecution requested additional time to prepare their response. This led Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon to adjourn the bail hearing until May 29.
Initially, the police prosecution sought to have Verydarkman remanded in prison custody. However, his legal team successfully argued for him to remain in police custody instead. Consequently, the court approved their request, and Verydarkman was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.
This isn't the first time the controversial critic has faced legal trouble. Back in March 2024, he was also remanded for similar cyberbullying charges. The 27-year-old has been a prominent figure in the media since January, frequently stirring up debates with his contentious viewpoints.
