Nigerian singer and songwriter Skales has opened up about his strained relationship with his former labelmate, Wizkid, claiming that the Starboy never liked him.
During a recent appearance on the Listen podcast, the Shake Body crooner detailed his experience, describing the negative energy he consistently felt from Wizkid.
Skales recounted a notable social media fallout between them, which began years ago during a Q&A session on Twitter. He shared, “Someone asked about Wizkid, and I jokingly replied, ‘My brother Wiz doesn’t have my time anymore.’ But that comment triggered Wizkid, who went on to insult me, my parents, and even accused me of wearing fake jewelry.”
He revealed that the incident wasn’t handled directly by him at the time but by his ex-girlfriend. Reflecting on the situation, Skales added, “I pick my battles carefully. I knew anything I said would be misconstrued as jealousy or envy of Wizkid’s success. That narrative overshadowed the truth, and it’s clear to me now that Wizkid genuinely doesn’t like me. I’ve tried to make peace, but he has been unwilling.”
This revelation sheds light on a long-standing feud within Nigeria's music industry, leaving fans to ponder the reasons behind their fallout.
