Controversial Nigerian rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has made a shocking revelation—he has been arrested 19 times and detained five times.
The Bangdadadang hitmaker shared this in a freestyle video posted on his social media, rapping:
“5 lockups, 19 arrests, I get game but I no dey hear, when you hear this one, na Kuje.”
Speed Darlington’s Legal Troubles & Burna Boy Feud
Speed Darlington’s latest arrests stem from his ongoing feud with Burna Boy. In October and November 2024, he was arrested twice after mocking Burna Boy’s rumored relationship with American music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Following his arrest, he was detained at Kuje Correctional Facility until his release on January 21, 2025, weeks after being granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Assassination Attempt Allegations & Lawyer’s Exit
Just days after regaining his freedom, Speed Darlington alleged that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt while returning from a club in Lagos. The claim sparked further controversy, leading his lawyer, Stan Alieke, to cut ties with him.
Reacting to his lawyer’s exit, Speed Darlington made it clear he was unbothered, saying:
“If you’re tired of supporting me, you’re free to leave.”
Despite his legal troubles, the outspoken rapper remains undeterred, promising to keep making music and speaking his truth.
