Renowned Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw has praised Senator Natasha Akpoti, who represents Kogi Central, for her bravery amid her ongoing clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The controversy began on February 20, 2025, when Natasha Akpoti and Akpabio had a heated disagreement over seating arrangements during a plenary session. Following the confrontation, the Senate referred Natasha to its Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for alleged disorderly conduct.
Speaking on Arise Television, Natasha accused Akpabio of victimizing her because she rejected his alleged sexual advances. In a bold move, she officially filed a sexual harassment petition against the Senate President on March 5, 2025.
Reacting to the situation, Kate Henshaw took to Instagram to express her admiration for Natasha’s resilience, declaring her as her "Woman Crush Wednesday" (WCW). Sharing the senator’s picture, Kate emphasized the need for women to defy societal norms that attempt to silence them.
In her powerful post, Kate wrote:
"WCW: @natashaakpoti. We often forget how far we've come, our rich lineage, and the strength within us. Society tries to label us as weak, incapable, and submissive. But we refuse to be silenced. Women, like children, are told to be seen and not heard—yet history proves otherwise. In almost all species, the female is the most formidable. We are the daughters of warrior women!"
Kate’s statement has sparked conversations about gender equality, leadership, and the need for women to take up space in governance and decision-making.
