Bankole Wellington, aka Banky W, a well-known singer and politician, has disclosed how Wizkid failed to honor his contract deal with the EME company.
In a recent interview with media personality Ebuka Uchendu, Banky W revealed that when he signed with Wizkid, he pledged to make five albums as part of his deal, but only completed two before leaving.
He explained that Wizkid was scheduled to do five albums, but he only did two solo albums. I believe he only wanted to get out, and that was enough for him.
“I did not want anyone to stay when they wanted to leave, because that would create animosity and resentment.”
Banky W, however, clarified that they have a cordial relationship and he did not force Wizkid to stay on the label to avoid resentment.
“No, I didn’t try to talk him out of it because I could tell mentally that he was ready to do other things, and for me, I always felt some things were meant to happen for a season and that was the season we were meant to be,” Banky W concluded.
Wizkid was signed to EME in 2009 but left in 2019.
