In a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) demanded that Mr.

Mike Igini, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) for the Akwa Ibom state, be fired within 48 hours.

The petition, dated July 7 but received by the electoral authority on July 8, was sent to Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the national chairman of INEC.

The appeal was titled "Impunity meted out to the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom state" and was signed by Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, the APC's South-South Zonal Organising Secretary.

Since Igini was sent to Akwa Ibom state, Agbomhere lamented, APC has been the victim of injustice and animosity.

Igini has allegedly undermined and worked against the APC in the State since his deployment, despite the fact that he was not supposed to be partisan or supportive of any party due to his position, he bemoaned.

The APC leader stated that in the event that his requests and demands are not granted within the allotted period, he would be more than happy to file a complaint with the Code of Conduct Tribunal and Federal High Court against Igini to obtain an Order of Mandamus to compel the Commission.

He claimed Igini was the cause of every APC controversy in the state and the reason the Commission had failed to formally certify Sen. Godswill Akpabio's and the party's candidate as candidates.
