Authorities reported the interception of two female suicide bombers linked to the detonation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturday.
A local government official confirmed that 30 female bombers were sent into Gwoza to detonate IEDs at various locations.
So far, four bombers have carried out their attacks. One bomber, approaching from the Pulka axis, detonated her device at a military checkpoint when she panicked during interrogation, resulting in her death and the deaths of a soldier and a civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) member.
The women infiltrated Gwoza from different areas, including Pulka and the Mandara mountains. Security operatives are actively searching for the remaining would-be bombers to prevent further attacks.
