In a somber turn of events on Saturday night, a female passenger identified as Nimotalahi Ishola took a drastic step by jumping into the lagoon while on board a ferry at Igando in the Alimosho local government area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred at approximately 9 pm shortly after the boat departed from the Isuti Jetty in Igando, heading towards Totowu in Ogun State. Nimotalahi was one of 12 passengers on the boat when she unexpectedly removed her life jacket and plunged into the lagoon, seemingly in an act of suicide.

Authorities discovered a plastic bottle of insecticide among her belongings left behind in the boat, suggesting a possible connection to the tragic event.

Policemen swiftly responded to the scene, and a search party has been mobilized to recover her body from the lagoon. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating, "Investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to contact her family."

This unfortunate incident highlights the need for continued efforts to address mental health issues and promote awareness to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.
