The Delta State commissioner for Health, Dr Mordi Ononye on Monday said that the state’s isolation centre at the Federal Medical Centre, Asba is well equipped. He explained that the state government had decided to create more isolation centres in the state in readiness of any possible outbreak of the dreaded COVID19, adding that the additional centres will be ready in one week time. Dr Ononye who spoke to Vanguard at the Warri Central Hospital after inspecting the Warri isolation centre said the state government was doing everything to ensure that Deltans are protected from the Covid19. He said the state has one of the best facilities at the Asaba centre stressing that the facility was approved and designed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). READ ALSOCOVID-19: FG not doing enough, says NUJ He appealed to Deltans not to always look for ways to criticize government all the time but they should rather appreciate them when they have done something good. According to Dr Ononye: “In the days of Lassa fever we have Withholding centres everywhere and what we do then was to ensure that all those that were tested positive for Lassa fever were taken to the nationally approved center at Irua, Edo State. Irua is specially prepared to handle infectious diseases. “What we have done today was to build a world class centre at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba to handle any possible outbreak of Covid19. That centre was approved and designed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). “As for the isolation centre at the Warri Central Hospital, we have identified the space and in two days time it is going to be ready with the state of the art facilities. “Some people are just been mischievous because I can tell you that the kind of personnel we have in our hospitals, you cannot find them anywhere. Most of the doctors you see outside are our doctors. “Warri Central Hospital has the best doctors in the country. The place is very neat and the environment is conducive. All patient that come here receive the best treatment. “People should appreciate the effort of government. People should not be mischievous all in a bid run down government efforts.

Though new cases of the novel coronavirus are being recorded in the country, however, the positive news is that many people have been recovering from the virus especially from the Lagos state isolation centre.

Today, the executive Governor of Lagos Babajide Sanwo Olu announces that another 5 patients have been discharged from the state.

The Governor made this know through his verified twitter handle.

He tweets:

Dear Lagosians, yesterday I announced the discharge of one more patient from our Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba. Today, I am happy to inform you that five more patients comprising two males and three females including a 10 year old girl have tested negative twice to #COVID19.

We wish all remaining patients quick recovery.

Few weeks after Muaz Magaji gladly celebrate the death of Abba Kyari whose death as a result of the coronavirus the sacked commissioner of Works and Infrastructural Development was fired for that immature act by the Kano state Governor. the man has now been tested positive for the same virus and has been moved to an isolation centre.

Magaji confirmed this in a post on his Facebook timeline on Thursday morning adding that he has been a move to an isolation centre in the state for treatment.

The Ex-commissioner wrote on his fcebook page “this morning, my NCDC test is out. I have been confirmed COVID-19 positive, and have been moved to one of the state facilities,” he wrote.

It should be noted that the former commissioner was sacked after making indecent comments over the death of late Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari who died as a result of the complications of the novel Coronavirus last month, April.

Speaking further on the sudden twist of fate, Magaji said, “going through a historical moment of our time, a time we will either live to remember or we will be remembered having lived in. Whichever applies, Alhamdulilah,” the sacked Commissioner however wrote.

On the quest of containing the exponential spreading of the novel coronavirus in the most populous state in the country and the centre of commerce in Nigeria, the Lagos state government has now extends the testing centre in the state to 26.

This means, there will be a testing centre in each of the 20 local goverments in the state, while Ikorodu local government will have one additional centre, which will make it 2 in Ikorodu local government, and Alimosho local goverments will have additional 5, which will now make it 6 centres in the large Alimosho local goverments.

The development was made known by the Senior Special Assistant to the the Governor on Health, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih through her twitter handle.

One of the tweets reads: While urging residents to desist from engaging in hoax calls or trying to call the twenty-six call centres for fun, the SSA added that residents willing to report Covid19 emergencies should still contact the 08000CORONA. @jidesanwoolu @drobafemihamzat @gboyegaakosile @Mr_JAGss.

Lagosians are advised to make good use of this great opportunity.
