The Cross River House of Assembly has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the disappearance of Dorcas Paul Ojong, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member from Cross River State who went missing while serving in Anambra State.

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, the Assembly passed a resolution urging both the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Director-General of the NYSC to promptly investigate Ojong's disappearance. The resolution was introduced by Mr. Okon Owuna, the Member Representing Akamkpa 1 Constituency.

Mr. Owuna informed the Assembly that Ojong, who hails from Akamkpa Local Government Area, had been missing since February 18, 2024. She was serving in Awka, Anambra State, as part of the mandatory national youth service scheme. Ojong, a graduate of the College of Health Technology in Calabar, was part of Batch A, Stream 2 of the 2023 corps members, bearing NYSC Number AN/2023/4309, and was due to complete her service in March.

"She was last seen on February 18 on her way to her place of primary assignment in Awka," Owuna reported. "Her disappearance has left her family in a state of confusion, trauma, and grief. Moreover, the NYSC authorities have failed to take adequate steps to trace her whereabouts."
