In a chilling tale of betrayal and greed, the Delta State Police Command has apprehended 48-year-old Efe Onoetiyi for the brutal murder of his best friend, Paulinus Okon, and for scamming Paulinus' family out of a staggering ₦50 million.
The shocking incident came to light after Paulinus was reported missing on September 8, 2024, by his brother. According to the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, Paulinus was last seen leaving with Efe, who initially feigned ignorance about his friend's disappearance. In a brazen act of deception, Efe even approached Paulinus' family, pretending to be concerned about his whereabouts.
A Sinister Plot Unfolds
Efe's malicious scheme began when he convinced Paulinus’ brother to give him ₦500,000, claiming it was for a herbalist who could locate Paulinus. But the scam escalated when Efe fabricated a story of Paulinus being kidnapped, demanding a hefty ransom. Over time, he managed to extract ₦20,715,000 from the distressed family, pretending to negotiate with the so-called kidnappers.
