Feared bandit leader Kachalla Dan Lukuti, infamous for terrorizing communities in Zamfara and Katsina states, has died under strange and unsettling circumstances.
Reports reveal that the ruthless criminal, known for orchestrating deadly attacks, succumbed to a bizarre illness that left him barking like a dog before his death.
Sources say Lukuti fell ill about a week ago, displaying terrifying symptoms such as violent aggression, uncontrollable spasms, and eerie barking noises resembling those of a rabid dog. His own gang members, gripped by fear and superstition, avoided him as his condition worsened. Witnesses described his final moments as agonizing, with his relentless howls echoing through the forest until he took his last breath.
Lukuti, who operated from the Kokonba forest in Zamfara State, commanded a gang of over 50 heavily armed men. He was responsible for countless attacks on villages like Dan Jiloga, Rijiya, Zonai, and Magami, as well as ambushes along the Gusau-Magami highway. His reign of terror extended into Katsina’s Faskari Local Government Area, where residents lived in constant fear.
Following his death, his terrified gang forced villagers in Kizara to bury him at the local primary school, fearing supernatural consequences. His mysterious illness has since sparked widespread speculation. While some believe he succumbed to rabies, others claim it was divine retribution for his years of brutality.
Lukuti’s death has left a chilling mark on the region, with many wondering if it was mere coincidence or a case of karma catching up to the notorious bandit kingpin.
