In a significant stride toward combating banditry, two infamous criminal leaders, Abu Radde and Umar Black, have surrendered to authorities in Katsina State.
These notorious figures, responsible for terrorizing communities in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas, gave up their weapons as the Nigerian military ramps up its offensive against criminal networks in the northwest.
Abu Radde and Umar Black, known for orchestrating kidnappings and large-scale cattle rustling, abandoned their criminal activities following relentless military operations under Operation Hadarin Daji and Operation Forest Sanity. The sustained airstrikes and ground offensives targeted their hideouts, leaving them with no choice but to surrender.
In addition to laying down their arms, the bandit leaders freed several hostages who had endured harrowing conditions in captivity. Security forces also recovered a cache of advanced firearms during the surrender, emphasizing the dangerous capabilities these criminals once possessed.
The Nigerian military continues to record significant victories in its fight against insecurity. Under Operation Fansan Yanma, troops recently delivered a heavy blow to bandits operating in the Fakai and Shinkafi forests. Coordinated air and ground strikes targeted camps led by the notorious Bello Turji, neutralizing dozens of fighters, destroying key hideouts, and leaving criminal factions in disarray.
These intensified military campaigns have disrupted bandit networks, scattering their forces and crippling their ability to stage large-scale attacks. As the pressure mounts, more criminal elements may be compelled to surrender, marking a turning point in the fight against banditry in northern Nigeria.
This remarkable progress demonstrates the commitment of the Nigerian military to restoring peace and security across the region.
