Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has distanced himself from a circulating 2023 campaign platform.
Tinubu stated that the circulating text was not his 2023 campaign manifesto and that he did not endorse it.
He said that the document was just a draft plan with ideas for programs he should undertake if elected president.
Tinubu's denial was contained in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, the Tinubu Campaign Organization's Director of Media and Communications, on Sunday.
He promised that his manifesto would be more serious than the one now being circulated.
Tinubu stated that when his manifesto is complete, he will deliver it to Nigerians.
The statement reads in part, "I want to say unequivocally that the manifesto being circulated via social media platforms and already published by a segment of the mainstream media is not the official manifesto of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the APC for the 2023 general elections."
We want to make it clear that the document is unofficial and that Tinubu cannot be held responsible for any of the issues presented in it.
The presidential candidate and the APC are currently working on a comprehensive platform that would inspire Nigerians' confidence.
"When Tinubu's official policy document is complete, it will be formally delivered to Nigerians, and our candidate will be able to defend every word contained within."
