Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted a significant consignment of Loud, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, cleverly concealed within giant loudspeakers in a consolidated cargo shipment from New York, United States of America.
The seizure took place at the NAHCO import shed of the Lagos airport when NDLEA officers discovered giant wooden boxes, disguised as sound speakers. Upon opening these boxes, they uncovered sixty (60) bags of the expensive and highly sought-after psychoactive substance, Loud, weighing a total of 33.5 kilograms.
In the subsequent follow-up operations conducted between Thursday, February 15th, and Friday, February 16th, 2024, three suspects were apprehended. Akeem Afeez, a freight agent, was arrested at the airport, Babalola Ayodeji Gboyega, the logistics company manager, was nabbed at his office on Allen Avenue Ikeja, and Taiwo Olusegun Anuoluwapo, the receiver of the consignment, was traced to his residence at 13 Ayo Babatunde Crescent, Lekki Phase1, Lagos.
Meanwhile, in Abia, a joint raid operation conducted by the NDLEA and the State Homeland Security at 23 Arochukwu street, Umuahia, around 11 pm on Wednesday, February 14th, resulted in the arrest of several individuals.
