Towards promoting festive cheer, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has declared a week-long public holiday for employees to observe the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The confirmation of this extended holiday was provided by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, in a statement issued on Thursday in Minna, the state capital.

The declared holiday is set to commence on Friday, December 22, 2023, and will extend until January 1, 2024, providing workers with an extended break to partake in the joyous occasions alongside their families and loved ones.

In addition to the prolonged holiday, Ibrahim disclosed that the government has plans to distribute food items to government officials. The purpose of this initiative is to encourage officials to share the provided food with the less privileged individuals in their respective localities and wards during the holiday season. Governor Bago has specifically urged officials not to confine their efforts to Minna but to actively engage in distributing food to those in need within their communities and wards.

Emphasizing the intent behind the extended holiday, Ibrahim highlighted that the government's aim is to ensure that people have ample time to enjoy and celebrate the festive season. This thoughtful gesture by the Niger State government aligns with the spirit of giving and community support during the holidays. Stay tuned for updates on how the people of Niger State embrace and enjoy this extended holiday period.
