During his visit to the detained IPOB leader, the Deputy Speaker shared a touching moment.
Nnamdi Kanu embraced him warmly, like a brother, and assured him that he would become a champion of peace in the South East region upon his release.
Kalu, who represents the Bende federal constituency of Abia State, shared that Kanu commended him for initiating the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P). Kanu expressed his belief that peace is vital for developing and healing Igbo land.
"I met a man with a beautiful mind," Kalu said. "He was tired of the bloodshed and the violence, and he was frustrated with people using his name to cause havoc in the South East region. He desires a paradigm shift and is committed to advocating for peace once he's released. Peace, he believes, is far better than conflict and war."
Kanu also acknowledged Kalu's efforts with the South East Development Commission and questioned the government's reliability in supporting this legislation.
