For the March 11 general election, the Oyo State branch of the Labour Party, LP, has selected Governor Seyi Makinde as its candidate for governor.
The party chose Makinde, according to LP Chairman Sadiq Atayese, because he is the candidate with character, competence, and capacity.
However, Atayese urged the residents of the state to support LP candidates in the state assembly elections while speaking to a press conference on Sunday.
He noted that the presidential election has shown that no party can “win the coming gubernatorial election single-handedly.”
According to Atayese, the LP and Makinde share ideologies in the areas of security, infrastructure development, food security, education, and human capital development. This is why the parties decided to collaborate.
“It is of note that the present PDP administration under Gov. Makinde has presented its scorecard from the health sector with the provisions of Primary Healthcare Centers in every ward, among others,” he added.
