The Imo Police Command apprehended six individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery.
As per a statement by ASP Okoye Henry, the command's anti-kidnapping unit successfully rescued a 26-year-old woman who had been kidnapped from her Obinze home on August 18.
Among the suspects apprehended were Umaru Usman (40), Tukur Yau (25), Musbau Sabo (18), Abdul Ibrahim (30), and Jubrin Idris (25), who were found in a forest hideout in Avu. The police recovered a pump-action gun, cartridges, a dagger, and criminal charms.
These individuals, known members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate, had been causing fear among residents in Obinze, Avu, and nearby areas.
In a separate operation, Nwauba Alex, a 25-year-old suspect of armed robbery, was detained by the command. A locally made pistol and live ammunition were seized in connection with this arrest.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, praised the operatives for their efforts and encouraged them to continue combatting crime in the state.
