The Imo State Police Command has struck a major blow against terrorism, successfully neutralizing three top leaders of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in a daring operation.

This achievement underscores the Nigeria Police Force's unwavering commitment to enhancing safety and security across the country.

According to a statement released by police spokesperson ACP Muyiwa Adejobi on Saturday, January 24, 2025, the operation was the result of precise intelligence and meticulous planning. Tactical units of the police launched a raid on suspected terrorist hideouts, targeting a forest camp in Ihube, located in Okigwe Local Government Area.

Upon arrival, officers encountered fierce resistance as members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and ESN opened fire. Undeterred, the police engaged the group in a heated gun battle, demonstrating exceptional courage and tactical expertise.

The confrontation ended with six terrorists neutralized, including three key ESN leaders. Among the deceased were:

  • Ifeanyi Anayo, alias Zuma De Rock (28)
  • Chukwuemeka Odionyenfe, known as Nmimi (22)
  • Kingsley Sunday (21)

All three were confirmed to be natives of Ogube, Ihube.

The operation also led to the recovery of significant weaponry and equipment, including:

  • Five AK-47 rifles
  • 552 rounds of live ammunition
  • Multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)
  • Communication gadgets
  • Eight motorcycles utilized by the group

This successful raid represents a crucial victory in the ongoing fight against terrorism and underscores the dedication of security agencies in restoring peace to the region.
