It was an unforgettable moment for the Ibadan people yesterday as the Oyo state government opened the first part of the new Olodo bridge in Ibadan.
The state's commissioner for works, Dahud Sangodoyin, opened the bridge with many residents celebrating.
In July 2023, a heavy flood caused the old bridge to collapse, forcing people to take different routes. Now that the first part of the new bridge is done, cars can use it again while the rest of the bridge is being built.
Residents and road users are happy about the new bridge. They remember the difficulties when the road was bad. Local traders are excited because they expect more customers now. The new bridge will help people move around easily and boost the local economy.
The residents rolled out drums in celebration of the opening of the phase one of the project.
