Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has suspended 14 monarchs recently coronated by the former Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

Aliyu also nullified the renaming of some tertiary institutions, their relocations and other appointments related to their governing councils and revoked all land allocations made by the former governor.
The announcement read, “His Excellency the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Alh. Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, FCNA has directed as follows:-
“That all recent appointments into the State Civil Service made by the out-going Government after 19h March 2023 are hereby nullified with immediate effect.
“The renaming of Tertiary Institutions in the State and other appointments related to their Governing Councils and their relocations announced recently by the outgoing Administration are hereby nullified. All the affected institutions are to revert to their former names and locations.
“All recent appointments of Traditional Rulers made by the former Governor of Sokoto State Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal are hereby suspended and will be reviewed in due course in the public interest.
“All Local Government Administrators/Caretaker Committees recently Sole appointed by the immediate past Administration are hereby dissolved. The Sole Administrators are to hand over to the Directors of Administration of their Local Governments with immediate effect.
“All Governing Boards of Parastatals other than Statutory Boards are hereby dissolved with immediate effect.
“All land allocations and other related matters made by the outgoing Administration in recent weeks are hereby revoked with immediate effect.
“All recent wasteful and unnecessary auction of Government assets are hereby suspended and will be revisited in due course.”
Governor Aliyu who made this known in a special public service announcement signed by his Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, did not give any reason for the nullification of the appointments.
Bawa however told journalists at the Government House that the nullified appointments would be reviewed in due course in line with the interest of the public.
It was gathered that the nullified appointees include 13 district heads including Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar III (Ciroman Sokoto) and District Head of Sokoto North LGA; Alhaji Buhari Dahiru Tambuwal, Sarkin Tambuwal; Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Muhammadu Maccido (Barayan Zaki) and District Head of Sokoto South LGA: Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Dansarki, Marafan Tangaza; and Alhaji Bello Sani Torankawa, Sarkin Yamman Torankawa.
Others are Alhaji Sule Ajiya Kalambaina, Sarkin Gabas Kalambaina; Alhaji Atiku Bello Ayama, Bunun Gongono; Abubakar Buhari Salame, Sarkin Arewan Salame; Alhaji Aminu Aliyu Ibrahim, Sarkin Yamman Balle; Malam Isah Aliyu Rarah, Sarkin Gabas Rarah; the Sarkin Kudun Yar’tsakkuwa, Tukur Sansani; and Alhaji Mukhtari Muhammad Tukur Ambarura, Sarkin Gabas Ambaru .
Also nullified is the appointment of Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Sama’ila Abdulkadir Mujeli, who was newly appointed by the former governor.
