Following Nigeria's victory over the Hippos of Uganda on Thursday night at the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia, center-back Abel Ogwuche was named Man of the Match.

The Flying Eagles won their match against the CECAFA champions by a score of 1-0, securing their spot in the semifinals and a spot in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

In place of suspended Flying Eagles captain Daniel Bamaiyi at the center of the defense, Ogwuche made his debut at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The Trelleborgs of Sweden defender slotted in perfectly, helping to ward off the threat of the Ugandan strikers.

Ogwuche made a number of vital blocks in the game, especially in the second half.

It remains to be seen if Ogwuche will keep his place in the team for the semi-finals.
