Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, asserted that Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, was denied the Ballon d'Or in 2018.

Ferdinand was a host for a Vibe with Five episode with IShowSpeed, a well-known internet personality and ardent Ronaldo supporter.

The former England defender was asked who has more Ballon d’Or awards, to which he replied, “Messi.

Recall that Luka Modric, who assisted Real Madrid in winning the UEFA Champions League in the 2017–2018 season, was awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2018.

The Croatian international was also a key part of his country’s national team, which finished runner-up to France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo, who was Modric’s teammate that season, had a strong case to win his third consecutive and sixth Ballon d’Or award that year.

The former Manchester United forward scored 44 goals and registered eight assists in 44 games across competitions that season.
