Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella is aiming for a return to the Super Eagles, as he continues to impress in Europe, DAILY POST reports.
Tella, who made his debut for Nigeria in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in 2023, has not received another call-up since. However, his recent performances for Leverkusen have reignited hopes of a national team recall.
Tella Shines for Bayer Leverkusen
The 25-year-old has been in top form, recently scoring in Leverkusen’s 2-0 UEFA Champions League victory over Sparta Prague. His strong displays have put him back in the spotlight, and he is eager to impress new Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle.
Speaking about a potential recall, Tella told Oma Sports:
“It’s not for me to decide. I’ve never been the type of player to say, ‘I should be called up.’
“On merit, I have to work hard and earn my chances. If the new coach (Eric Chelle) believes I’ve done enough, I’ll gladly accept the call. If not, then I’ll just keep working harder.”
With his current form in Germany, will Nathan Tella secure a place in Nigeria’s squad under Eric Chelle? Stay tuned for the latest Super Eagles updates!
