Towards the Continental award that is scheduled to hold on Tuesday January 8 2019 in Dakar the capital of Senegal, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the top 10 shortlists for the 2018 African Player of the Year with the ace Nigeria skipper Ahmed Musa not making the cut.
In the list made available, we have the Nigeria cum Arsenal player Alex Iwobi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sallah and Sadio Mane made the cut decided by votes from the members of the Caf Media Committee, Caf Technical & Development Committee and half of the 20-member panel of experts.
The present holder of the award Mohamed Salah who won the accolade for 2017 after a historic season for the English Premier League side Liverpool is being tipped to be a favourite for this year edition too.
The winners will be decided by votes from the head coaches and Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to Caf.
The award is in different categories which includea; African player of the year, African Men team of the year, African Women team of the year and African youth player of the year.
