Former Bafana Bafana captain, Thulani Hlatswayo, has advised SuperSport United defender, Ime Okon, to choose South Africa over Nigeria.

Okon, who was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father, has the option to represent either country.

Hlatswayo believes that Okon should stay in South Africa because it might be challenging for him to make it into the Nigerian national team without playing in Europe. He emphasized the importance of Okon's presence in Bafana Bafana, especially considering the current situation with other South African center-backs.

Despite being eligible for both countries, Hlatswayo highlights the need for Okon to prioritize playing for South Africa, given the opportunities available and the team's current requirements.

Okon has been a key player for SuperSport United this season, making 18 league appearances and contributing to the team's success in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
