Arsenal legend Ian Wright has given his honest opinion on the penalty awarded to the Gunners through which they sealed a 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Arsenal made it eight wins in nine matches on Sunday with goals from Gabriel Martinelli and two from Bukayo Saka.

Saka scored the last goal from the spot after Thiago Alcantara was adjudged to have kicked Gabriel Jesus in the box, a situation the Brazilian made the most of.

The Gunners return to the top of the Premier League table, one point above Manchester City with the win.

Wright said of Premier League Productions, “At some stages, you have to look at that [again]. As much as I’m delighted my team has gone on top of the league, I’m going to look at that and say I can’t see where the foul is.

“When you look at the contact..." I don’t feel there’s enough contact for him to [award a penalty].

“As a referee, knowing how the game is, for him to go down like he did, he hadn’t swung or caught him on the move or anything."

“He was behind him and it was minimum contact." They [VAR] have got to look at this. For me, I don’t see the foul. "
