Mexico's head coach, Gerardo Martino, is anticipating a difficult match against "big foe" Nigeria.

On Saturday night, the two clubs will meet in a friendly at AT & T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (Sunday morning in Nigeria).

Mexico has faced Nigeria seven times in the past, with five games ending in draws.

Last year, the El Tri crushed a Super Eagles side comprised of players from the Nigeria Professional Football League 4-0 in a friendly match.

"It's true that we haven't played an African team, but Nigeria is still a formidable opponent, and we have a lot to work on, regardless of the opponent," Martino said at a news conference prior to the encounter.

“Regarding which players will be in the initial game, he pointed out that they will be the ones who have been in this concentration the longest.

“There may be one or another that doesn’t, but in general terms, the team is going to be much closer to the players who started in CAR with us."

After the game against the Super Eagles, Mexico will face Uruguay and Ecuador.

The Super Eagles, on the other hand, have another friendly lined up against Ecuador next Thursday.
