The Super Falcons' next goal, according to Ashleigh Plumptre, is to qualify for the 2026 Olympic Games.

Following their impressive performance at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the former African champions received a great deal of praise.

Randy Waldrum's team went undefeated in the group stage after holding Olympic champions Canada to a scoreless draw and defeating co-hosts Australia with a perfect score.

However, the Three Lionesses of England eliminated the Super Falcons in the Round of 16 after a 4-2 loss on penalties.

The West Africans will take on Ethiopia in October in the first round of the qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“This is now the benchmark for us.
“The expectation is that we compete with these teams all the time; hopefully, we have proven that,” Plumptre told the BBC.

The Super Falcons have failed to qualify for the last three editions of the Olympics.
