Napoli sporting director Mauro Meluso has stated that keeping Victor Osimhen at the club would be a significant achievement for him.

Meluso is new at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona, having replaced Cristiano Guintoli as Napoli’s sporting director last week.

Guintoli recently dumped the Serie A champions to take up a similar role at Juventus.

Osimhen played a key role in Napoli’s Scudetto success last season.

The 24-year-old netted 26 times to claim the Serie A top scorer award.

The Nigerian has been a subject of interest from top European clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.

Meluso is, however, determined to keep the striker at the club.

“I’ve just arrived, and I understand that retaining Osimhen would be a significant achievement,” Meluso was quoted as saying by Tutto Napoli.

“He brings a unique dimension to the team, and players like him are few and far between.”
