Technical adviser of the Benin national team, Gernot Rohr, has wished Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle all the best with his new team.

The German tactician expressed hope that Chelle will gather experience on the job, adding that the Malian will succeed with his new team, the Super Eagles.

“I wish all the best to the Super Eagles and Eric Chelle. I knew him; he was a good player,” Rohr told Brila.net.
“Then he started to coach in France with a mid-table team, and later he had the chance to manage Mali, a very good team.
“The experience will come, and I hope he will give confidence to the players but not against Benin.”

Chelle was recently unveiled as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

He is expected to lead Nigeria to glory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, later this year.

Chelle will face Rohr later this year in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria currently occupy the fifth position in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group.

The Super Eagles will need to win all their remaining games to stand any chance of qualifying for the World Cup.
